For most applications the standard Haug Model RN bar is adequate. This static bar alone will work if held close to the surface at speeds under 800 feet per minute. When mounted to an air knife they will work up to several hundered feet per minute depending on the material and distance from the material. For very high speeds and distances, we recommend the Model VS static bar with three times the output of the RN static bar. The VS bar alone can eliminate static up to speeds of 1000 feet per minute if held close to the material or several hundred feet per monute of a few inches away from the surface. Used on slitters for example when a static bar cannot get close the VS bar alone may eliminbate the static charge.
MISCONCEPTIONS One of the misconceptions in the market is that an air knife somehow increases the power of a static bar. This is totally false. All the air knife does is push the ions further from the static bar and of course, provides the energy for blowing off any dust sticking from static. What also happens is that the ions produced by the static bar begin to recombine as tyhey are pushed from the static bar by the air knife. So the farther the target, the "longer" it takes to dissipate a static charge. Ridiculous claims of eliminating static at 20 feet is plausible only if you take into account a great deal of "time" and exposure to the ion cloud produced. In real world applications this is genrally not realistic. Generally if the speed and distance is greater, the more powerful a static bar is necessary.
Air knives verses Blowers:
Air knives are required with a static bar if a blow-off force is required. The advantage of eliminating static charges is that the force required to blow-off and "keep off" dirt is minimized. Small packaged blowers usually do not provide adequate blow-off but large regenerative blowers and blower-style air knives can. The application on each is described in the article Compressed Air Vs. Blowers and Dirt Control in Statically Charged Environments. Both blowers and air knives extend the range of the ions for static elimination but also dilute the statiuc removal effect the further away you get from the static bar. Hence the need to stronger static bars like the Haug Model VS for high speed and high static charge applications.

The Haug Model VS Static Bar has three times the output of a regular static bar. Combining this bar in lieu of the standard Model RN bar can dramatically improve the neutralization rate, and can address extremely highly charged applications. Used by itself or with an air device as required. They are the same dimensionally as the standard RN bars which can also be supplied separately. |

Explosion Proof Applications:
Many areas require explosion proof static bars and power supplies, all available from Nex FlowT. Conforming to the international Apex rules, where applicable, these bars may be adapted to various air devices if required. |
SPECIAL NOTES:
Haug static bars all come with a patented connector to assure safety in operation and maintenance. Field repairable, it prevents a connection if the static bar is removed or attached while power is still on at the power supply.
Cable is FULLY SHIELDED unlike some manufacturers which claim shielding which may only be partial. This results in much longer life for Haug products.
REPAIRABLE POWER SUPPLIES - almost unheard of in the industry, Haug power supplies are repairable and come with a 2 year warranty. |
